Coffee Ratio Calculator

Turn a desired cup size into a practical coffee dose and water amount.

Coffee scale, pour-over dripper, beans, and measurement marks arranged for ratio planning.

This calculator is for quick brew planning when you know how much coffee you want to drink but do not want to do ratio math at the counter.

Choose a method, yield, unit system, and strength preference. The result gives a starting dose, a water amount, and a short adjustment note you can carry into the next brew.

How to use this tool

  1. Pick the brew method that is closest to your recipe.
  2. Enter the finished yield you want, then choose milliliters or fluid ounces.
  3. Use the strength control as a small nudge, not as a replacement for tasting and adjusting.

What the result means

The coffee amount is a starting point based on typical brew ratios. If the cup tastes balanced but too intense, dilute slightly or use a wider ratio next time.

If the cup tastes sour, bitter, weak, or muddy, adjust grind, contact time, or agitation before making several dose changes at once.

Assumptions and limitations

Water grams are treated as approximately equal to milliliters for everyday brewing.

Espresso-style output uses beverage yield as the target and reports a dose-to-yield ratio rather than a full kettle water amount.
